Skye Councillors Raise Concerns Over Hospital Cover

At the Eilean a Cheo Ward Business meeting held on 24th November, all four elected members raised concerns regarding NHS proposals not to have a doctor at Portree Hospital after 6pm weekday evenings.

During the meeting Councillors noted that their concerns were shared with members of Portree Community Council who had also discussed the proposal at its last meeting.

Speaking on behalf of the Councillors, Hamish Fraser said:  “We understand that the Community Council are monitoring this situation and will be attending the Out of Hours Group in order to voice their concerns.  We are fully supportive of this action and I myself intend to raise this issue on behalf of my fellow Councillors at the next meeting of the Community Health Partnership.

“We want to assure the people of Skye that we have their best interest at heart and will all work together to ensure concerns of the whole community are strongly put forward.”
