Pay Agreement 2008/9
The Highland Council’s Resources Committee has recommended unanimously that the Council, which meets on 18 December, should implement the pay award for most non-teaching employees - despite no national agreement having being reached.
The pay award is 3% with effect from 1 April 2008. The Council hopes to be able to implement the pay award, with back pay, from the end of January 2009.
Councillor Carolyn Wilson, Chairman of the Resources Committee, said: “Our staff have been waiting for their pay award since April. This will be good news for all of them. The 3% will be included in payments made to them in January, at a time when people need it most.”
The Resources Committee heard that 21 councils in Scotland have also agreed to introduce the pay award.
