Locals urged to Leap into Learning and Leisure
An event organised by The Highland Council on Friday 29th February 2008
at the Badenoch Centre, Kingussie is encouraging members of the public to “Leap into Learning and Leisure”.
Event organiser Donna Reilly, Facilities Manager for Badenoch & Strathspey said: “The open day is intended to raise awareness amongst local people of the learning and leisure opportunities available to them at the Badenoch centre we want people to leap into more action, more often after attending this leap year event.”
A programme of activities will take place from 10am to 8pm at the Badenoch Centre which will include informative and interactive activities for the body and mind. “Leap into Learning and Leisure: aims to promote learning opportunities and healthy lifestyles and offers something for everyone.

The event is being supported by various groups and organisations that will be providing the activity taster sessions including: Highland Council’s Community learning and Leisure Services; Careers Scotland; Young Scot; Learn Direct Scotland; Moray College and University of the Highlands and Islands; Cairngorm National Park; Driving Instructor; Advocacy Highland; Volunteering Highland; BASIL (Badenoch & Strathspey into learning); and Springboard UK.
Councillor Bill Fernie, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to kick start something new and leap into action whether it is for learning or leisure. I am sure that this leap year opportunity will help many people in the Badenoch and Strathspey area be get inspired and get active.”
