Transport Scotland responds to community representation on A830 closures
In response to local representations, weekday closures of the A830 Fort William – Mallaig trunk road - which last between 11 am – 2.30 pm to allow the upgrading of a new stretch of road near Arisaig to proceed - will end before the Easter weekend.
The last of the three-and-a-half hour closures, which began on 11 February, will take place on Thursday 20 March.
From April, one hour closures between 1.30 – 2.30 pm may be required on a Tuesday and a Thursday to permit blasting operations. These closures will cease during July and August to reduce impact on business during the important summer tourist season.
One hour closures will recommence in September and October. If required, the three-and-a-half closures will be reintroduced in November.
Transport Scotland and The Highland Council, agents for the contract, wish to thank the travelling public for their patience as these long-awaited and important works are concluded.
Transport Scotland are investing £22.7 million on upgrading of the road between Arisaig and Loch-nan Uamh. The contractors are Morrison Construction.
