Whiteness Head walk with Council Ranger

Highland Council’s Countryside Ranger John Orr is leading a guided walk to Whiteness Head on Sunday 13th January.

The 5 mile / 8km walk, winds it way through farmland, salt marsh and gravel ridges to the remote spit which juts out into the Moray Firth.

John Orr said: “This will be the fourth year we’ve run this walk and every year’s been different. There’s a good chance of seeing a variety of wildlife including seals hauling out opposite the spit and lots of birdlife including terns, godwits and other coastal species.”

The walk takes place from 1:30 - 4:30 pm. Meet at Hilton of Denies farm, off the B9092 – Ardersier to Nairn road. Grid reference NH 846563. Please bring walking boots, warm clothing, waterproofs and some lunch. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
For more information please phone the rangers on 01463 702932.

This guided walk is part of a programme of events organised by the Countryside Rangers in Highland Council’s Planning and Development Service.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
