Highland Lights promises “Fantastic Programme of Entertainment”
Members of The Highland Council's Inverness City Committee are looking forward to welcoming everyone to the city for Saturday’s Highland Lights - Solais na Gaidhealtachd event. As well as being the finale for Inverness's new Winter Festival, Highland Lights - Solais na Gaidhealtachd - is seen as a unique opportunity to build on the success of the Highland 2007 launch event on 12 January last year, and the call from the Scottish Government to establish a national programme of winter events.
Provost Bob Wynd, Chairman of the Inverness City Committee, said: "I am looking forward to Highland Lights and the fantastic programme of entertainment on offer at venues around the city on Saturday. I am confident that this will provide a thrilling spectacle for the people of Inverness and will positively promote Inverness across the UK. Groupe F are one of the premier pyrotechnic companies in the world and I am certain the display will leave a memory with the people of our city for many years to come.
“We are expecting a very large crowd to take part in the torchlight procession to enjoy the entertainment en route to the Kessock Bridge for the fireworks finale.
"Inverness businesses are also ready to add to the event programme and to provide hospitality to the crowds as they return to the city following the extravaganza. This is going to be a night to remember and an experience not to be missed."
The event begins at 7 pm at Huntly Street with a torchlight procession. The. Procession will wind its way to the Kessock Bridge with plenty of entertainment and a few surprises along the way, where fireworks experts Groupe F will provide a spectacular display, starting at 8.30 pm.
