Refurbishment of Multi-Storey Car Park to be Completed

The refurbishment of Inverness Old Town Rose Street Multi-Storey Car Park is to be completed at a cost of £765,000.  A contract has been awarded by The Highland Council to McGregor Contractors Ltd and work is due to start at the end of next month and be completed over the spring/summer of this year.

The Highland Council's Transport Environmental and Community Services Committee was advised today (Thursday) that the two lower floors of the car park were refurbished four years ago together with improvements to access, security, lift arrangements, lighting and finishings  These works were seen as a major enhancement to the operation of the car park and provided benefits for both shoppers and commuters to the city centre.

The upper four floors will now be brought up to the same standard of the lower floors.  A “Pay on Exit” system will also be introduced at the car park.

Committee chairman Councillor John Laing: “This is a major boost for the city of Inverness.  The completion of the car park refurbishment and the introduction of a modern payment system will is good news for visitors to the city centre.”

Councillor Bob Wynd, Chairman of the Council’s Inverness City Committee, also welcomed the go ahead to complete the refurbishment of the car park.
