Royal Visit To Lochaber

Lochaber will enjoy a very special start to the summer with a visit by Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Royal couple will visit Kinlochleven, Fort William and Glen Nevis on Tuesday 5 July 2005, to see what Lochaber excels in - community groups and agencies working in partnership for the benefit of the local community.

The Queen will visit businesses in Kinlochleven and hear about the regeneration of the village. In Fort William, activities will concentrate on the Parade area where the community sector will be present.  In Glen Nevis the focus will be on the Nevis Partnership and there will be demonstrations involving the rescue services and environment groups that support the Outdoor Capital of the UK.

Councillor Olwyn Macdonald, Convener of The Highland Council’s Lochaber Area Committee, said: "This is a great honour for Lochaber.  It is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate how well we work together and how much our partnership working achieves in the area."
