New Dingwall Library Gets Seal Of Approval

Dingwall Library’s oldest member, Diane (Bunty) Marshall, aged 92 from North Kessock visited the new community library yesterday (Monday 9 June) and was delighted and impressed with what she saw.

Library staff showed her around the large and airy room which, within just one week of hard work, they have managed to transform into a fully operational library with an impressive stock of books for all interests and ages to enjoy, a suite of computers offering free internet access, talking books, and DVDs. There is also a dedicated children’s area with computers, soft seating and specially designed book shelves.

People can enjoy an extended service as the library is now open 6 days a week, including two evenings.  The opening hours are Monday 09:00 - 18:00; Tuesday 09:00 - 20:00; Wednesday 09:00 - 18:00; Thursday 09:00 - 20:00; Friday 09:00 - 18:00; Saturday 10:00 - 17:00.

A separate access door at the front of the school takes users straight into the ground floor library where there is parking for Blue Badge holders and also ground floor toilet facilities.

Pauline Chapman, the Dingwall and West Coast Librarian said that staff at Dingwall Library were looking forward to welcoming library users and lots of new people to the library.  She said:  “Everyone has worked really hard in a short space of time to get ready for the opening and I hope everyone visiting will be pleased with the increased stock we are able to offer and the spacious layout.  Now we have the space to do so, we hope to organise some special library events over the coming months.  If anyone who isn’t an existing library user would like to come along and look around the community library, they will be made very welcome and the team of staff are available to answer questions and give advice.”

The new telephone number for the library is 01349 869869.
