City Lunchtime Piano Recital

Inverness classical music-lovers are in for a treat next week . A Lunchtime Piano Recital performed and introduced by Robin Colvill, one of the most versatile pianists performing in Britain today, will take place at the Town House on Monday 16 June.

Robert Colvill trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dance and the Salzburg Mozarteum. His musical activities are diverse, encompassing solo, duo and chamber concerts. He has built up an impressive schedule of engagements through his determination to bring music alive and make it accessible to his audiences. His sympathetic approach to the wider concert audience has led to a move away from the conventional solo recital. His inspired programmes are carefully devised to lead the listener through a performance of mixed emotions and he always manages to create a very special atmospheric concert.

Robin’s busy schedule has included performances across Britain and in Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and with his wife, Kim, on a luxury cruise round South America. He also gives masterclasses and is Musical Director for classical music and performance for the Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. He has appeared on British, German, Austrian and Spanish TV and radio.

Monday’s programme will include some old  favourites and a few lesser-known pieces:   Song Without Words, Thomé; Mozart’s Fantasy in D minor; Chopin’s Nocturne in E flat major; Widmung by Schumann/Liszt; Spanish Dance No.5 by Granados; Miller’s Dance by Falla and a concert transcription for the for the piano by the composer of Finlandia by Sibelius.

The performance starts at 1pm and is part of Inverness Art Forum’s popular Lunchtime Concert Series supported by The Highland Council.  Tickets are available of the door for £4 full price and £3 concession.
