Dornoch Hosts Continental Market

For three days next week Dornoch will once again be in the limelight as crowds of people come to enjoy a shopping extravaganza in the Sutherland town as it hosts its first Continental Market.

From Thursday 25th until Saturday 26th shoppers can chose from dozens of stalls with traders coming from France, Italy, Netherlands , Spain and Germany. The produce on sale ranges from cheeses, pancakes and bread to Bruc Wurst, olives, paella and anchovies. Non food items on offer will include rugs, jewellery, plants and pottery.

Provost of Dornoch, Councillor Duncan Allan said: "Anyone coming to Dornoch to visit the Continental Market next week will have a wonderful experience. There will be a wide variety of stalls and the whole town will have a great atmosphere as people wonder around and enjoy giving themselves a treat by sampling some of Europe’s finest produce. With a wide array of colours, aromas and fragrances filling the town, I am sure the market will attract shoppers from all over the Highlands. Bring the kids and enjoy the toffee waffles.

"Dornoch is the ideal place for a great day out. After wandering around the market stalls why not enjoy a walk on our award-winning beach, or have a look around the Cathedral before visiting our own local shops which stock lots of interesting gifts and products before enjoying refreshments in our cafes, pubs and hotels."

Shar Nyhuis, from the Continental Market said: "Although we have visited Inverness several times, this will be our first visit to Dornoch and we are really looking forward to it. On sale we have many things so we hope that everyone who comes along will enjoy our European flavour."
