Making A Splash At Poolewe

Over 170 youngsters from 8 primary schools in Wester Ross were keen participants in their very own swimming galas at Poolewe Swimming Pool during Healthy Highland Week. Pupils from Gairloch, Poolewe, Bualnaluib, Inverasdale, Sheildaig, Badcaul, Kinlochewe and Torridon all had a great time whilst taking part in one of the healthiest activities known to man.

The normal pool programme was put on hold during Healthy Highland Week whilst every child who wanted to take part came along for their special individual school galas. The finalists from each school returned on Friday to compete in the Inter-Primary School competition.

Winners’ trophies were presented to Badcaul and Poolewe Primary schools and medals were won by 19 pupils for their individual races.

Throughout the week, each child was provided with a refreshing drink and fresh fruit snack courtesy of HealthWays – Ross and Cromarty’s very own award winning Health Improvement project.

Great fun was had by all the children, teachers and also the pool staff, who are already making plans for Healthy Highland Week 2006!
