Council calms traffic at four more schools
Part time 20mph speed limits have been introduced at another four Highland schools. The new speed limits operate when pupils are arriving and departing from Ullapool High, and Ullapool, Bower and Crossroads Primaries during term times.
Part-time 20mph speed limits apply at Ullapool High School Mondays to Fridays from 8:45am to 9am; 12:40 to 1:30pm and 3:35 to 3:50pm; and at Ullapool Primary School from 8:45am to 9:10am; 12:15 to 12:30pm; 1pm to 1:15pm and 3:10 to 3:30pm.
At Bower Primary School, Caithness the part-time speed limits apply on Mondays to Thursdays from 8:35 to 9am; 2:25 to 3pm; 3:15 to 3:30pm; and on Fridays from 8:35 to 9am; 1:30 to 1:45pm; and 2:00 to 2:15pm.
New limits are in place at Crossroads Primary School, Dunnet on Mondays to Fridays from 8:45am to 9:00am; 2:30pm to 2:45pm; and 3pm to 3:15pm.
Motorists are reminded that if they speed in the vicinity of Highland schools then the penalties will be tough. The Highland Council, Northern Constabulary and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (Highlands and Islands Area) are clear that if motorists are caught speeding near Highland schools where a 20mph limit is in place, then robust enforcement action will be taken by both the Police and the Procurator Fiscal Service.
