Highland Council takes action to protect public
The Highland Council has cordoned off part of the pavement outside the Inverness Town House today (18 June 2008) in order to protect the public from loose masonry on the Town House building.
The loose masonry was found above gable windows on the Town House this morning during a routine building inspection by the Council’s Housing and Property Service and contracted steeplejacks.
Following consultation with the Council’s Building Standards Officers in the Planning and Development Service, the Council took immediate action to make safe an area covering the two BT public telephone boxes on the pavement below the loose masonry on Castle Wynd.
The Council is now arranging for contractors to fix and make safe the loose masonry but in the meantime the public phone boxes will remain cordoned off for public safety and are therefore out of commission.
