Information Panels Installed Around Nairn

A series of interpretation panels around Nairn giving local information have been given a full colour upgrade and makeover by The Highland Council.

The series of 8 panels which give information on local history and wildlife around the Harbour and The Links area were originally conceived, designed and installed by Nairn District Council & Nairn River Community Council in 1995.

The Highland Council’s Countryside Ranger for the area,  John Orr said:  “Over the years since the panels were installed, they have faded and were looking a bit drab. We consultation with Nairn Riverside Community Council, Nairn Museum and The Nairn Access Panel and decided to reproduce them using colour and updating some of the information”.

The panels cover the history of Nairn as a centre for fishing, tourism and as a place to see wildlife and can be seen along the promenade and around the harbour area. The funding for the project was provided by The Highland Council’s Planning & Development Service.
