Council confirms grant to Eden Court, Inverness
The Highland Council has confirmed it will provide funding of £200,000 towards the final settlement of the capital costs of the redevelopment of Eden Court, Inverness. The funding will come from slippage with the Education Culture and Sport capital programme.
The contribution is part of the final funding requirement of £675,000.
Convener Councillor Sandy Park commended the further contribution towards the costs of the theatre, which the council owns.
The redevelopment, he said, provided the Highlands with a first class, national theatre, performance, teaching and cinema facility. He said: “The new building has been a great success with the public and performers alike and continues to attract a greater per capita audience than any other theatre in Britain. In partnership with the Council, it also runs the largest arts education programme in the country.”
