Four P6 pupils from North Kessock Primary school are busy doing some last minute swotting as they prepare to fly the Highland flag at the national Euroquiz final in Edinburgh.
Morvern MacDonald (10), Angus Gillies (11), Robert MacDowall (11) and Luke Patience (11) won the Highland heat of the quiz in March and preparing to travel to Edinburgh on Monday (12 May) to compete for the Standard Life trophy.
In the main debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament the pupils will face questions on history, geography, sport, culture, the European Union, politics and general knowledge. The whole school will be able to support the team as the quiz will be shown live as a webcast from 1.30pm to 4.00pm.
Headteacher of the School, Miss Henderson said: “The whole school is very excited and with them all the best. We are all very proud of them and we’ll be arranging for the webcast to be watched on a large screen by the whole school.
The team will be accompanied to Edinburgh by their class teacher Mr Danson who has been helping them with their revision. He said: “This is a good year for our school as we also have a P6 team in the final of a Rotary quiz. On Monday we will be competing against 20 other schools so the competition will be fierce. The team are feeling confident and are determind to do their very best.”
The national quiz has been organised by the Scottish European Educational Trust, a registered charity, set up in 1993.
