Volunteers improve path to Badbea

Caithness Countryside Volunteers met this month to undertake some maintenance work long the path leading to the clearance village of Badbea. The volunteers cleared cross drains and cut back vegetation to improve the access to the historical village.

Organised by The Highland Council’s Countryside rangers as part of the Caithness Countryside Volunteers programme of events, funding for tools and refreshments came via the Community Service Volunteers Action Earth supported by Morrison Supermarkets.

Marina Swanson, East Caithness ranger and event organiser said: “The weather was fantastic on Saturday everyone enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful scenery. Many thanks to everyone who turned out to lend a hand, and to our sponsor Morrison Supermarkets.”

Caithness Countryside Volunteers are always looking to recruit additional members.  For further information about the group, please contact Marina Swanson on 01955 607758 or e-mail marina.swanson@highland.gov.uk.
