Competition Pool at Inverness Leisure Re-Opens

The team at Inverness Leisure are delighted to announce that the competition pool at the centre will re-open to the public on Saturday 22nd November 2008, more than a week ahead of schedule.

James Martin, General Manager at the facility said: “We have been working towards the end of the month for the competition pool re-opening, and I am extremely grateful for the hard work put in by the contractors and our staff in getting the pool opened early.

“Whilst the fire-related work repair work was taking place, our own maintenance team have taken the opportunity to carry out some of the jobs we would normally have done during our usual festive period closure.  However, as we have now been able to do this work, we obviously don’t need to close and will remain open for the remainder of the year. The competition pool has now been filled with over 1,000,000 litres of fresh water and it has taken us some time to get the new water appropriately heated, treated and to a standard that our customers would expect.  But I am pleased to say that we will be there by Saturday. My team at Inverness Leisure have been working hard to get the area in and around the pool back to a standard in readiness for the many customers we expect to get over the forthcoming weeks.” 

The Competition pool will re-open for public sessions and for the various clubs and organisations that have been re-homed in other pools throughout the Highlands. 

Mr Martin added: “The pools will open for public sessions as of this Saturday, and I am pleased to say that we have been able to slightly amend our competition pool timetable to allow for increased family fun sessions in this pool. The Swim Team will be contacting parents and schools shortly regarding the recommencement of our massive  swimming lesson programme which we will be restarting this side of Christmas.

“Whilst we are opening the competition pool earlier than expected, we are now in a position where we have to honour long-standing bookings for swim galas and events.  It is therefore important that customers check our new website at www.invernessleisure.co.uk on our news page for ongoing updates relating to the competition pool timetable.”
