Recycling Points Removed from Hilton, Inverness
Five recycling containers located near Dow’s Diner, Hilton, Inverness, are being removed as the result of complaints that the containers have attracted anti-social behaviour.
The Highland Council will remove the glass, paper and can containers tomorrow (Thursday) – at the land owner’s request - and hold them in storage until a new location in the area can be identified and agreed with the local community.
The nearest recycling point is at the Hilton Community Centre.
Councillor David Henderson, Inverness Ness-side, said: “It is very sad that these waste recycling facilities must be removed from the community because of anti-social behaviour. We know that most people in the Hilton area actively want to be able to recycle their waste, and we will be seeking other locations where this can be done on a more secure basis. We ask local people to help discourage any abuse of facilities and to report any incidents. Recycling is a matter of the greatest importance to us all, and the Council will not be deterred from expanding its efforts to increase public awareness and participation.”
Councillor Henderson is eager to highlight that the Council has a total of 198 recycling points throughout the Highlands, including four new points outside Lidl stores in Alness, Fort William, Inverness and Tain.
