Road widening works on Telford Street

Road widening works relating to the new ALDI store on Telford Street, Inverness will continue beyond the initial programmed construction period of 3 weeks.

A temporary lane closure is scheduled to come into operation on Saturday 18th October and will remain in place for 11 days. Westbound traffic will be unaffected but City Centre bound traffic will be diverted along Telford Road and over the Waterloo Bridge. HGV traffic will be required to use General Booth Road and Glenurquhart Road as there is a 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the Waterloo Bridge.

Since works commenced on Monday 8 September, 2008 the impact on traffic has been kept to a minimum.

‘Balfour Beatty/Raynesway Construction’ will be planing off the existing road surface on Telford Street between Telford Street Roundabout and its junction with Lochalsh Road.

Unfortunately, road working width restrictions mean these works will require a single lane closure for part of their duration, which will hopefully allow these works to proceed in a swift and efficient manner. This phase of the works has been programmed to coincide with the second week of the school holidays when traffic volumes tend to be lower, particularly during the morning rush hour.
