Fire Damages Hall at Inverness High School
Inverness High School will remain closed today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) as the result of a fire which badly damaged the main hall of the school. It is hoped that the school will be able to re-open when pupils return after the October holidays on Wednesday 29 October. The hall is badly damaged and is likely to remain closed until at least the end of the year.
Assistant janitor David Russell detected the fire shortly before 10 pm last night (Wednesday) in the stage area of the main hall and alerted the emergency services.
Both the police and fire are investigating the cause of the fire.
