A9 Longman Roundabout Resurfacing

Scotland TranServ are advising motorists of a disruption to traffic movement which is necessary to allow them to resurface the A 9 Longman Roundabout, Inverness.  The works will commence on Monday 20 October and continue for four nights, between 8 pm – 6 am.

To undertake the works in a safe and quick manner, there is a requirement to partially close the roundabout to traffic, with some diversion routes employed.

Diversions and restrictions:

This £38,000 scheme is part of the commitment by Transport Scotland to maintain and improve the trunk road network. The essential works involve a surface course inlay. The A9, to the north of the roundabout, is to have an anti-skid surface applied.

There will be a 30mph speed limit in place during the surfacing works to protect the workforce and the travelling public. Some delays are inevitable and drivers are asked to plan their journeys accordingly and to observe the speed restriction.

The works are being carried out by Scotland Transerv and both the works and
traffic management measures have been planned in consultation with the Police and The Highland Council.

To accommodate the works, the Council is advising motorists that Stadium Road will be closed between the roundabout junction with the A9 (London – Edinburgh – Thurso Trunk Road) and its con-junction with Longman Drive from 8pm on Monday 20th  October to 6am on Tuesday 21st October and at the same times on Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd – re-opening at 6am on Friday 24th October.

The closures will affect vehicular traffic but pedestrian access and access for Emergency Services’ vehicles will be maintained at all times. Access for Inverness Caledonian Thistle Stadium and The Highland Council’s Longman Gypsy / Travellers site will be maintained from the New Century House end of Stadium Road.

An alternative route for vehicular traffic will be available using Longman Drive, Henderson Drive, Henderson Road and the A82.
