Highland Council and Tesco Extra provide help for the homeless

People attending The Highland Council’s Homeless Day Centre at Waterloo Place, Inverness have been receiving help from a money management course co-ordinated by the Council and supported by Tesco.

Advice has been made available through Margaret McKenzie, the Council’s Housing Needs Assessor on money management and cooking on a tight budget. Tesco have donated various items to the Day Centre including clothing, foodstuffs for the lunch, calculators and stationery so that the course is able to run.

Margaret MacKenzie, who is co-ordinating the course, said: “I would like to thank Tesco for their support and donations to the project – this had made a real difference to the impact of the course by having resources available to help people.

“So far we have a good response to the money management advice that we are offering – the feedback has been that people welcome this help and support.”

Tesco Extra Community Champion, Rhona Brindle said: “It has been a great experience attending the day centre and meeting some of the people that Tesco Extra have helped.   It is a very worthwhile project.”
