Time limit to be introduced on Inverness disabled parking bays

Inverness is to follow the example of other cities by introducing a time limit on designated disabled parking bays.

Members of The Highland Council’s Inverness City Committee today (15th) agreed to promote a three hour time limit on all 13 designated disabled parking bays within the City centre streets (Union Street, Queensgate and Church Street).

Inverness City Partnership Officer, Marie Mackintosh, informed members that opinions had been canvassed from the Inverness Access Panel and Highland Society for the Blind about the introduction of a time limit for parking in designated disabled bays.

She said:  “The views held were that a time limit will help the majority of Blue Badge holders by increasing turnover and availability of the bays.”

Before any time limit is introduced a revised parking order will be prepared and, as part of the statutory consultation process, the proposal will be advertised for formal objections or support.
