Temporary Road Closures During Loch Ness Marathon
On Sunday 5 October the 2008 Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running takes place and Highland drivers are being advised that temporary road closures will be in place during the day.
The roads affected are as follows:
• The B862 Fort Augustus to Inverness road, via Whitebridge, Torness and Dores, will be closed at its junction with the U53 Knockie Road to its junction with the B852 Dalcrag Bridge to Dores road from 7.30am to 10.30am.
• The B852 Dalcrag Bridge to Dores Road will be closed at its junction with the B862 and its junction with the C21 Inverfarigaig to Glenlia Road from 9.45am to 11.30am.
• The B852 road will be closed at its junction with the U44 Foyers Road to its junction with the C20 Inverfarigag to Errogie Road from 10.15am to 12 noon.
• The B852 road will be closed at its junction with the C20 Inverfarigaig to Errogie road to its junction with the B862 Fort Augustus to Inverness Road from 10.30am to 1.30pm
The B862 road closed to northbound traffic between its junction with the B852 Dalcrag Bridge to Dores Road and its junction with the Holm Roundabout from 10.45am to 14.00pm.
The B862 road closed to all traffic between its junction with the C10 Torbreck Road and its junction with the Holm Roundabout from 10.55am to 11.20am.
• The C16 Inverness to Ashie Moor Road will be closed at its junction with Holm Road in Inverness to its junction with the C10 Torbreck Road from 9.30am to 11.05am
• The C10 Torbreck Road will be closed at its junction with the C16 Inverness to Ashie Moor Road to its junction with the B862 Fort Augustus to Inverness road from 10.50am to 11.10am
• The B862 closed to northbound traffic between its junction with Holm roundabout and its junction with Ness Bank and cavell Gardens Road from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Access for southbound traffic will be maintained at all times.
Castle Road closed to northbound traffic between its junction with Haugh Road and its junction with Bridge Street between 11.00am and 3.00pm. Access for southbound traffic will be maintained at all times.
• Bught Road will be closed at its junction with the A82 to its junction with Whin Park from 6.00am to 4.00pm
• Bught Road and Ness Walk will be closed at the junction with Whin Park to its junction with Bishops Road from 10.00am to 4.00pm
• Bishops Road will be closed at its junction with the access to The Highland Council’s car park to its junction with Ardross Terrace from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
• Bught Lane will be closed at its junction with Bught Road to its roundabout junction at the entrance to the Inverness Sports Centre car park from 9.15am to 4.00pm.
These closures will only affect driven vehicles. Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will not be affected.
Organisers of the Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running hope that spectators will come and support all runners and enjoy the carnival atmosphere at Queen’s Park Stadium Inverness Sports Centre, the finish venue for all three races.
Spectators are advised that the best place for viewing the marathon is the last four miles on the way into Inverness, and for the 10K and the 5K along the banks of the River Ness.
