Colourful Characters To Meet On History Tour

On Thursday (9 April) history will be brought to life in the grounds Culloden House in Inverness with costumed characters from the past adding  an authentic touch to a guided walk led by The Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers.

This Easter holiday family event involves a wander on foot around some of the places of historical interest in the area including the old vaulted cellars of Culloden House, Clootie Well, the Doocot and stables with some interesting costumed characters to meet along the route.  The afternoon will end with tea and biscuits served in the auspicious surroundings of Culloden House.

John Orr, Countryside Ranger for Inverness East and Nairn said: “This is a fascinating walk through Culloden’s past. We will be starting outside Culloden House and winding our way up through Culloden woods with a few surprises on the way.”

This event is organised as part of The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Services countryside events programme. The walk is 4km (2.5 miles) and is a little steep in places. Suitable for individuals and family groups, there is a charge of £4 for adults and £2 for children.  Places must be booked in advance by telephoning 01463 710786 and the meeting up point will be at Culloden House at 2pm.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
