Paving The Way For The New Gaelic School In Inverness

Work commences on Monday 14 November on the construction of a new roundabout on the Southern Distributor Road in Inverness to provide access to the proposed new Gaelic Medium Primary School at Slackbuie.

The project involves the construction of a new roundabout between the existing roundabouts which are located on the SDR/Slackbuie Road junction and SDR / Culduthel Road junction.

The works are programmed to end on 14 February 2006.

Motorists are advised that for most of the contract period, it will be necessary to close one lane of the SDR with the traffic controlled by temporary traffic lights. The Council’s contractor is Tulloch Civil Engineering Ltd.

The estimated cost of the new roundabout is £500,000

The new Gaelic Medium Primary School is one of 11 new school projects being promoted by The Highland Council through a second Education Public Private Partnership Programme.
