Lochbroom House, Ullapool
A major fire at Lochbroom House, Ullapool – a residential care home for older people run by The Highland Council – has delayed the re-opening of the home following a £1,200,000 refurbishment.
The six residents and the staff, who had been relocated to the Ullapool Hotel during the refurbishment work, were due to move back to Lochbroom House this week.
They will now remain at the hotel until the damage to the care home is repaired.
The total refurbishment project which began in July 2008 had just been completed and included installation of a new lift, upgrading of all 10 rooms to provide ensuite facilities, a new heating system and improved access for wheelchairs to all parts of the building.
