Funding Clinics For Community Projects

The Highland Council's Cromarty Firth Ward is hosting two special Project and Funding Clinics with support from Ross-shire Voluntary Action. These clinics will give people the chance to come along and find out how they can get support and money for their community projects.

Each clinic will have experts on hand. There will be a particular focus on the LEADER funding that is available which amounts to over £406,000 in the Cromarty Firth Ward over 3 years, but there will also be information from other funders that could help provide match funding.  Practical help will also be on offer to fill out application forms.

The first clinic will be held on Thursday 20th August 2009 at the Averon Leisure Centre in Alness and will run from 4.00pm to 7.00pm, with the second clinic on Monday 24th August 2009 in Invergordon Town Hall, also running from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.

Ward Manager Helen Ross said: “We want to encourage as many people as possible to take this opportunity to come along and find out how the Leader money can really help to make things happen.  There is a huge potential for local groups to really make a difference and see ideas for a wide range of projects to become a reality.  The Project and Funding Clinics which are free to attend  will have people on hand who can give lots of very useful professional and practical advice and so anyone interested is welcome to  come along.

Marion Rhind, Development Officer with Ross-shire Voluntary Action said: “We are keen to work with local groups and help them take their projects forward. People can sometimes be put off by the need to find match funding or by completing the actual application forms but we can help groups to work through these things whether they are at the early stages or have a fully worked up project and everyone is invited to come along and make the most of this chance.”
