HMIe Report on Stratherrick Primary School, Inverness
In an HMIe report on Stratherrick Primary School, Inverness, a range of key strengths were identified. The primary school was strongly commended for its confident, friendly children who work hard and enjoy learning, its partnerships with parents and the wider community and the success of staff in making learning interesting and relevant for children.
In their report the Inspectors also recognised a number of key strengths. These included the consistently high level of children’s attainment; successful partnerships with parents and the clear view the acting head teacher had of where he wanted the school to go. All aspects reported on were found to be good or very good.
The Inspectors made a number of recommendations for the school which included further improving self-evaluation of the school’s work. The school was also asked to continue to ensure that work was consistently at the right level for all children and to further strengthen the curriculum.
Commenting on the report Alan Graham, who has recently been appointed as the permanent Headteacher, said: "I am very pleased and proud of our HMIe report as it highlights the confident, friendly, hard working children at Stratherrick Primary School. The quality of learners’ experiences is of a very good standard which shows the hard work that all staff put in to providing the children in our care with meaningful opportunities to achieve their potential. The report highlights the partnership that we have with our parents and the wider community. This is particularly pleasing as parental involvement is a particular strength of our school.”
The chairperson of the Parent Council, Rena Slater, also commented: “This was a good report and I was very happy as it reflected the good practice and positive ethos the school now holds. The report reflects the confidence of the children and the ownership that they have within the school. It also highlights the rapport the school holds with parents and the wider community. It shows that the children are happy, content and learning well. As the Chairperson of the Parent Council I am pleased that the report highlights the good work that everyone connected with the school is doing.”
