Switch your Bluetooth on at Inverness Leisure and Christmas could come early this year.

Inverness Leisure say they have achieved another first by becoming what they believe to be the first leisure centre of its kind in Scotland to using new ‘Bluetooth’ technology to offer visitors to the centre exclusive promotions and offers.

The centre has installed new transmitters around what it is calling the “Bluetooth Zones” in the building where visitors can pick up special offers and promotions straight to their mobile phones.  And as a special offer to introduce the technology, they are giving away a mountain bike to one lucky winner who texts them back on their new special number.

Speaking about the new technology General Manager James Martin commented, “I have always been a bit of a ‘techie’ and into gadgets.  So for a while now we have been looking at ways we can integrate new mobile technology even further at the leisure centre.

“We noticed that practically every one of our customers carry mobile phones and thought if there was some type of system that could send them offers directly, we were sure that there would be a high uptake.

“We finally managed to find a quality system that met our requirements which we will launch on 1st December, offering our visitors and customers the chance to win a bike all for the price of a standard text message.

Kris Redmond, Business Development Manager who will be in charge of the new technology and the current free promotion went on, “At a recent trade show we identified this product which offers the customer who has Bluetooth enabled on their mobile phone to accept a message or a special offer directly into their pocket.  If they say yes, it sends the offer straight to them in a matter of seconds but if they say no, the system is smart enough not to resend the message to them again the next time they visit the centre.  So our customers won’t get inundated with the same offer over and over again.

“The great thing from Inverness Leisure’s perspective is that once one of our customers has accepted an offer whilst they have been in our Bluetooth Zone, it is on their phone until they delete it.  This means that if the offer is one that would suit their family and friends, they can them pass it on to them directly from phone to phone without needing to be in the centre.

“We really think that this new type of promotion is the way to go and can assure the thousands of visitors who come to our facilities every week that will get some really great offers straight to their phone.

“And what better way to encourage our customers and visitors to switch on their Bluetooth when they come to the centre, than deciding that we would give away this fantastic Powerade Bike all for the price of a standard text message.

He concluded, “There is no catch or gimmicks here.  We are not charging higher text rates for this promotion as you will see in some big television programmes – you really can win a bike just by texting in to the centre, which for many people could actually be free.”

If you want to be in with a chance of winning the bike, then all you have to do is visit Inverness Leisure, go to the Bluetooth Zones and get the details or alternatively simply text “NESS” followed by your name to 88882 (Standard text rates apply) before 18th December 2009.  The winner be announced before Christmas and will appear on Inverness Leisure’s website.
