Highland Secondary small schools football final

Around 200 pupils will take part in the Highland Secondary small schools football final this Friday 4 December at Glen Urquhart High School, Drumnadrochit near Inverness.

Twenty teams are expected to play off for senior boys, senior girls, S2/S3 boys, S1 – S3 girls, and S1 boys trophies.

David Lees, Convener of the Highland Schools’ Football Association Small Schools’ League said: “We are looking forward to an excellent league on Friday and wish all the teams the best of luck. The main aim of the competition is to enable schools teams that are more remote from their opponents to get the chance to come together in a competitive situation to test their skills and have fun.

Matthew MacIver, Glen Urquhart High School Active Schools Co-ordinator said: “We are delighted to host the competition here at Glen Urquhart High School. It is not only important to create pathways for football players but also to increase levels of participation at lunchtime, after school clubs and among all age groups within rural High schools.”

Teams from Ullapool, Gairloch, Mallaig, Farr, Glen Urquhart, Kinlochleven, Ardnmanurchan High Schools and Dornoch Academy will all be participating.

The semi-finals will be played at 1pm and 1:30pm with the final game at 2:30pm and presentation ceremony at 3:20pm.
