Going for gold at Alness Swimming Pool

A new Olympian themed large pool inflatable at Alness Swimming Pool means young swimmers can now put themselves to the test as they slip, slide and splash their way to the medal podium.

With the 2012 Olympics fast approaching and the success of the TEAM GB young swimmers in Beijjing still a highlight, the new inflatable will appeal to all youngster who want to come along with their friends and have some watery fun.

Manager Lisa Hay said:  “Learning to swim and having the confidence to play in water is an important life skill. The Olympian inflatable will give young swimmers, especially those aged between 8 and 14, lots of fun and at the same time will help to develop their co-ordination, stamina, fitness and swimming skills.”

Funds towards buying the inflatable came from the Cromarty Firth Ward discretionary fund.  Speaking on behalf of the Ward Members, Councillor Maxine Smith said:  “We all value how important it is for young people to be physically fit and healthy and The Olympian is a great way to be active and have lots of fun.  I am sure will be a very welcomed and well-used attraction to Alness Swimming Pool.”

The Olympian Challenge will be available on Saturday’s 2.00pm – 2.45pm and can also be hired out for private pool parties.

Alness Swimming Pool’s current timetable runs up to 23 December and includes a wide selection of sessions seven days a week.  With length swimming, family friendly sessions, aqua aerobics, junior and adult swimming lessons, inflatable sessions and Happy Hour, where all entries are just 50p, there is something for everyone.  Highlife Cards are welcome and the Games Hall in the complex is also available for bookings.
