Motorists urged to cut speed at East Ross School
From Monday 9th February 2009, another East Ross school will have part time 20mph speed limits in operation for children’s’ safety.
The part-time 20mph speed limit at Obsdale Primary School, Alness is being introduced on the Obsdale Distribution Road and the Obsdale – Mossfield Road, in the vicinity of the Primary School.
The limit will operate from 8:15am to 9am; 2:30pm to 2:45pm and 3pm to 3:15pm to coincide with the times that children are expected to be arriving at and departing from the school.
When this speed limit commences 57 of the 63 schools in the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross Area will have 20 mph speed limits in place.
Motorists are reminded that if they speed in the vicinity of Highland schools then the penalties will be tough. The Highland Council, Northern Constabulary and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (Highlands and Islands Area) are clear that if motorists are caught speeding near Highland schools where a 20mph limit is in place, then robust enforcement action will be taken by both the Police and the Procurator Fiscal Service.
