New Deputy Chief Fire Officer for the Highlands and Islands
Highland and Islands Fire Board have announced the appointment of John Donaldson to the position of Deputy Chief Fire Officer in Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service. Mr. Donaldson (49) has worked for the Service for the past 11 years after transferring from Fife Fire and Rescue Service. He has worked in a number of departments, latterly as Head of Operations at Service headquarters in Inverness.
Mr. Donaldson, who lives in Rosemarkie with his wife and 2 sons, joined the fire service in 1980 and has progressed through the ranks to his current senior position.
Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service Chief Fire Officer Brian Murray said: “John has been a great asset to the Service and has helped to bring about many improvements. He is totally dedicated to serving the communities in Highland, Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles and I have no doubt that as Deputy Chief Fire Officer he will play a key leadership role in making our Service safer, more effective and more efficient.”
