Work Underway To Get Leisure Pools Reopen
Management at Inverness Leisure have now had an opportunity to discuss the re-opening of the Leisure pool and features at the Bught Lane facilities following the fire in the plant room in September last year.
Referring to the fun pool re-opening, General Manager, James Martin said, “Following initial assessments shortly after the incident last year, we were hopeful that we would be in a position to re-open the leisure pool early into this year.
“I am pleased to say that remedial works recommenced on Monday of this week with contractors back on site following the festive break.
He continued, “Following discussions with our Project Manager and contractors it now looks likely to be March before works will be completed in order to allow the leisure pool to fully re-open to the public.
“The reason for the slight extension to the works is due to the very specialist equipment that is being used to bring the leisure pool and features back online.
“We have been conscious that we want to ensure the equipment used to the replace the items damaged in the fire is to a high quality so as not to present problems in the future when the system is reset.
“As the items being replaced are larges pieces of plant, they are clearly not ‘off the shelf’ items; that said, the hard work of the main contractor has paid off and they have managed to source the necessary parts meaning that re-fitting works will commence as soon as the items arrive on site.
“I can confirm that we will be doing all that we can to get to re-open ahead of schedule as we did with the Competition pool. We hope to be able to do this with the minimum amount of disruption to our customers as the various items damaged by the fire are replaced.
“The competition pool is fully functioning and we are delighted that we have been able to welcome back our many thousands of swimming lesson participants along with the other groups, clubs and organisations.
Mr Martin concluded, “My team and I would take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience and support during the periods of closure.”
