Enterprising Pupils Raise Money For Moray Firth Dolphins

The Primary 6 class at Kirkhill Primary School have been busy raising money for the Moray Firth Dolphins.

After completing an environmental studies topic about the Inner Moray Firth which included visits by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and Highland Council Ranger, Martin Hind, the class got busy making mosaic tiles to sell at the school’s Christmas Fayre as part of their enterprise project, called “Dolphin in my Wallet”.

The idea to produce the colourful tiles came from a class Dolphin watching trip to Chanonry Point when parent helper, Kate McEwen, gathered glass fragments from the beach.  The pupils then helped turn the collected pieces into a beautiful mosaic picture.

With help from parent Marie Waugh and from donations from Topps Tiles, the children created beautiful individual tiles which were sold at the Christmas Fayre.  An  impressive £443.54 was raised for their  ‘Dolphin in my Wallet’ enterprise project.
