Deadline For Civic Awards

Communities across Ross-shire have just one more week to get their entries in for the 2005 Ross and Cromarty Civic and Community Awards.

These annual awards, organised by The Highland Council’s Ross and Cromarty Committee, recognise the work of people from all age groups and walks of life who have contributed to the success and wellbeing of their local community.

There are a number of awards and categories include a Good Neighbour award, an award for the best community project, as well as awards for business, sporting and musical achievement. The award ceremony, which will be held on the 28th November at Ross County Football Club, culminates in the presentation of the Citizen of the Year Award.

Area Convener, Councillor Carolyn Wilson said: "There is still time to put forward the name of someone who you feel deserves recognition for the work they do and the contribution to the lives of others that they make. Often such people work quietly behind the scenes without a fuss. These Civic Awards are the ideal opportunity for their efforts to be officially recognised and for us to show our appreciation."

Nomination forms are available from the Area Managers office by telephoning 01349 868500.
