Dolphin and Seal Centre Competition Winners

The winners of The Highland Council’s Dolphin and Seal Centre annual colouring competition this year are Zoe Brown of Kilcoy and Tiree Paterson of Croy.

While visiting the Centre this summer with their families, the girls entered the competition along with over 100 other youngsters. Tiree was judged winner of the under 6 years category and Zoe won the 7-10 year old category. The over 11 category was won by an entrant from West Lothian who visited the Centre during a holiday in the Highlands.

The winning entries all received goodie bags from the Centre.

Presenting the winners with their awards, local Highland Councillor Isobel McCallum said: "I am delighted to award Zoe and Tiree with their prizes and hope that they will come back and visit the Centre again with friends and family."

The competition was part of the range of activities organised for children by The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Service. The Visitor Centre also offers an excellent viewpoint with binoculars to view the Moray Firth; a shop; video footage of local dolphins; exhibition; and staff who can help and provide information

The Moray Firth Dolphins are important because there are only two or three known resident populations along the British coastline, the others being at Cardigan Bay and around the Cornish coast. The Moray Firth dolphins are the only known resident population remaining in the North Sea.

Located in the North Kessock Tourist Information Centre car park, the Dolphins and Seals of the Moray Firth Visitor Centre is just 2 miles north of Inverness on the A9 road and is open from June to September.
