Highland schools celebrate cluster arrangement

One hundred pupils from two Black Isle Primary Schools will tomorrow (Wed 10 June, 2009) mark the confirmation of the permanency of a new cluster arrangement between the two schools.

Pupils, staff, family and friends of Mulbuie and Ferintosh Primaries will make a trip to Eden Court to meet with Highland Council’s Director of Education, Culture and Sport, Hugh Fraser.

The pupils have created a plaque to mark the cluster one of which will be presented to Hugh Fraser, and the others will be displayed in each school. Local Councillors, as well as the ward manager, have also been invited to join in the celebrations.

Following a short ceremony, the group will gather on the Eden Court lawn at
11:30 am where the pupils will release 200 balloons in the schools colours.

Shona Mackinnon, Head Teacher Mulbuie and Ferintosh Primaries said: “The permanent cluster of Mulbuie and Ferintosh Primary schools ensures that both communities maintain their local rural schools with outstanding support from parents and councillors.

“The committed team of staff from both schools have benefited enormously through joined working, and we plan to give the children several opportunities throughout the school session to meet up for shared learning.

“As head teacher, I see exciting changes ahead, giving me time to effectively manage both schools, whilst maintaining their unique identities.”
