Community Conference To Look At Rural Housing and Health

The Partnership for Rural Inverness & Nairn (PRIN) will host their annual community conference on Saturday 29 October to help rural communities begin to understand and meet their housing needs.

The conference, which is open to anyone with an interest in rural housing issues, will also examine how poor housing can impact on health, and delegates will be able to pick up practical advice on a wide range of topics including grants and insulation.

The key note speaker at the day-long conference will be Jess Christman of Community Self-Build Scotland.  She said: "Community Self-Build Scotland aim to provide advice, assistance and training for self-build groups as well as influencing the policies of agencies such as Communities Scotland. I welcome the opportunity to again visit Inverness where high house prices often prevent many local people entering the housing market."

PRIN chair and Highland Councillor, Margaret Davidson said: "This community conference will demonstrative ways for communities to work with local and national partners to resolve their housing needs and allow young and local people to remain in their communities."
