Forum Leads On Tourism Initiative

Individuals, businesses and volunteers involved in tourism are being urged to work together following the latest Tain and Easter Ross Ward Forum meeting.

The Forum meeting held recently (11 June) discussed tourism issues in the Ward and how those interested in tourism in the Tain and the Fearn Peninsula could build on the services already offered by the private sector, The Highland Council and Visit Scotland.

One of the outcomes of discussions was to explore the possibility of forming a tourism group to look at enhancing the Ward as a tourist destination and tapping into funding, marketing and other opportunities available.

Local Councillor Richard Durham, who chaired the Forum, said by working together rather than in competition with each other, tourism facilities and services could encourage visitors to the area to stay longer benefiting everyone.

“We heard examples at the Forum of tourism communities coming together to take a lead in promoting their areas and what help was available to make this happen,” he said.

“The Forum decided it was worth getting interested parties together to see if a similar idea would benefit our area,” he added.

Anyone interested should send their contact details to the Tain and Easter Ross Ward Manager, Carol Elliot, by telephoning 01349 886643 or by writing to Carol at the Tain Service Point, 24 High Street, Tain, IV19 1AE.
