Skye Members To Bring Forward Meeting With NHS Highland
At the Eilean a’ Cheò Ward Forum meeting held on Monday 16th March, the four Ward Councillors and members of the public discussed the issue of the proposed reduction in the number of beds in the Broadford and Portree Hospitals.
During the meeting the elected members and local people expressed deep concern at the recent reports in the local press.
Councillor Hamish Fraser said he spoke for all the elected members when he expressed his concerns about these proposals and the impact on the Skye and Raasay Communities. He assured the members of the public attending the forum that local elected members had not been advised of this proposal by NHS Highland and had been very dismayed to learn of it through the press.
He said: “We were expecting to meet with NHS Highland representatives on the 20th April. This meeting was arranged prior to the recent press reports. In light of media reports and local concerns my fellow Councillors and I will now be seeking an earlier meeting with NHS Highland.”
