Leugh sa Ghàidhlig

Primary school and nursery-aged children are taking part in a fundraising Fun Run at Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis on Friday 22nd May.

The event is being organised by a group of parents with the help of school staff, Highland Council Gaelic Community Development Officers and other volunteers. The group is receiving support from the Council’s Community Learning and Leisure service as well as donations of bananas from Swanson’s Fruit Company of Inverness and bottled water from ASDA. Monies raised from entry fees will go towards school funds.

Head Teacher Kirsteen Wells said: “The whole school is looking forward to the Fun Run, which is creating a great sense of excitement. Not only will it be good exercise for the children but it creates a good sense of team building among the house teams. I would like to thank all the parents, council staff and sponsors for their support.”

The fun run will start with a warm up and the runners will set off accompanied by bagpipes being played.

Three runs will take place including a sprint round the school field for nursery children, a 0.65km run for P1-3 children, and a 2km run for P4-7 children.

Participating children will all receive a T-shirt, medal, bottle of water and a banana, as well as earning a point for their school house-team.  A trophy will be presented to the house-team with the most participants on the evening.

Soup and home bakes will be available after the run with music provided by musicians and singers from Fèis Na h-Òige and Fèis a’ Bhaile.
