Council Ranger leads walk on Nairn riverside.

Members of the public are invited to join John Orr Highland Council Ranger as he leads a walk along the banks of the river Nairn on Sunday 31st May.

The walk is about six miles long from the sea, upstream to Cawdor Village and passes the parks and houses of Nairn out into peaceful fields and woodland towards Cawdor.

Ranger John Orr said: “There are great views to be had and hopefully lots of wildlife to see on the way. As we follow the footpaths along the River Nairn there are some lovely scenes beside the pools and fishing beats as well as a beautiful display of bluebells at this time of year. The tree species and landscape changes all the time, and as most of the walk is relatively level it’s an enjoyable way to see the countryside. Don’t forget to book a place and bring some lunch and walking boots with you.”

The walk starts at 10am and finishes at approximately 3pm. A minibus will be provided to return walkers to Nairn at a nominal £2 charge. Booking is essential; to book a place phone 01463 702932.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
