Forest harvesting causes Great Glen Way diversion

Users of the Great Glen Way are being advised by Great Glen Way Rangers and Forestry Commission Scotland that due to major harvesting works part of the Way is now closed until 31st March 2010.

The section affected by the closure is from Allt na Criche to Rubha Ban on the Fort Augustus – Invermoriston stretch of the Way. All users are being asked to use the diversion that has been marked by orange arrows through the trees and although suitable for walkers is steep in places and is not suitable for bikes or horses.

For route users wishing to make alternative arrangements to pass the diversion – posters giving phone numbers for local taxis and the bus travel line number will be on all Great Glen Way signs so that they can plan their way around the route closure.

Up to date information on the diversions is on the internet at www.greatglenway.com. Please check the web site before setting out and call  the Great Glen Way Rangers on 01320 366 633 for further advice or information.
