Opening of Refurbished Naver Pitch, Thurso

A major refurbishment of the popular floodlit Naver Pitch at Thurso was opened today (Monday).

Councillor Donnie Mackay, Thurso, was joined by his council colleagues and community representatives at the opening ceremony, which marks completion of improvements to the floodlighting system and the laying of a state of the art new playing surface.

Councillor Mackay said: “I am delighted that the Council has invested in this popular community facility.  Made in France, the surface is first class and is similar to that found on international football stadia. I am sure the community will make full use of this asset. My thanks go to everyone involved in bringing this about.”

The all weather pitch was constructed for The Highland Council by contractors Doe Sport (North) Ltd at a cost of £150,000. The  floodlighting system cost £31,700 to install.
