Natural Christmas arts and crafts in Grantown Square

The Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers in conjunction with the Anagach Woods Trust are offering an exciting opportunity to create Christmas decorations using natural materials from local woods in arts and crafts style.

The event will be run to coincide with the Grantown-on-Spey Christmas lights switch-on which is on Thursday 26 November at 7pm and a late night local shopping occasion.

Saranne Bish, Highland Council Countryside Ranger said: “This unique event offers a new type of event linking three different opportunities in the one evening! Come along to the British Legion at thhe Square in Grantown at 5pm and create your own Christmas decorations, see the lights come on in all their splendour at 7pm and then do some shopping in the town after. How seasonally cool is that?”

Charlie Sinclair, the Christmas Lights Convenor has worked with the Grantown Business Association to arrange this exiting event whilst Piers Voysey from the Anagach Woods Trust has been working hard to collect wood, cones and foliage for the evening.

Saranne added: “Making your own decorations is good fun and timeless – this is how folk used to decorate their houses in days gone by. Come along and see just how creative you can be!”

To ensure funds are available for next year’s Christmas lights switch-on a Buffet Dance is to be held at 7pm on the 3rd December again at the British Legion. Tickets are available from Janet Flannerly.
