Transport Seminar for Dingwall
The Highland Council’s Dingwall and Seaforth Ward members are hosting a free transport seminar on Saturday (31 October) from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm in Dingwall Academy.
The event has come about through the ward forum and a keen interest in travel and transport issues locally. One of the key objectives of the event is to gather views with the aim of setting up a local Transport Forum. Another aim is to form an action plan on how Green Travel initiatives can be taken forward. It also is hoped that as a result of the seminar there will be interest in undertaking a ‘travel diary’ for the ward that will map local travel and the experiences of those travelling in and around local communities.
Councillor Angela MacLean, who is chairing the seminar, said: “There will be information on display from the Energy Saving Trust giving advice on reducing fuel consumption, saving money and cutting down transport CO2 emissions, on Car Sharing, Shop Mobility, the Highland Cycle Forum and well as a further opportunity to give your views on the Highland Council Local Transport Strategy. The event is free and open to everyone and we hope that we will have lots of interest in forming a Local Transport Forum.”
The ‘drop in’ event will run from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm. There will also be workshops on Public Transport, Green Travel and Community Transport and Travel running from 10.30 am– 12.30 pm. For anyone who simply wants to call in and give their views on transport issues that affect them there will be maps and feedback boards in the foyer for putting comments on. Dingwall Academy pupils will be providing refreshments as part of their enterprise initiative throughout the morning.
